Dr. K. POULOSE JACOB, Professor of Computer Science at Cochin University of Science and Technology since 1994, is currently the Pro Vice Chancellor.
A National Merit Scholar all through, Dr. Jacob entered the service of Cochin University as a Lecturer in 1983, after being part of the R&D team of a Computer peripheral manufacturing industry, for one year. He has been teaching the B.Tech. students of the University since 1980, while being a student scholar at the Department of Electronics, his entry point to the University. His was the first Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, acquired through his research work in the Department of Electronics. He was elevated as Reader in Computer Science in 1989 and subsequently Professor in 1994. He is the founder Director of the School of Computer Science Studies.
He has also served as Dean of the Faculty of Technology as well as Engineering and as Member of the CUSAT Syndicate. He had officiated as Vice Chancellor of CUSAT during January - October 2014. The CUSAT seminar complex was completed and inaugurated during this period. CUSAT could become a partner in the South Asia Anglia partnership, a programme of the Anglia Ruskin University, UK, partly supported by the British Council, which was an outcome of his initiative. He has been Director of the CUSAT Computer Centre and had initiated the Centre for Information Resource Management, which he had been steering all along. He has been nominated as the Head of the Panel on Scientific Computing of the Naval Research Board under the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO).
Dr. K. Poulose Jacob is a Professional member of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and a Life Member of the Computer Society of India. Listed in the 2010 Edition of "Who’s Who in the World" published by Marquis Who’s Who, he figures as a biographical reference in that Volume, which lists the world’s most accomplished individuals.
